Lieutenant General (Ret.) William G. Boykin
LTG (Ret) Jerry Boykin was one of the original members of the US Army's Delta Force. He was privileged to ultimately command these elite warriors in combat operations. He participated in US Army Special Operations from 1979 until his retirement, including Desert One, the failed 1979 mission to rescue American hostages held in Iran after the Islamic revolution that toppled the shah. He led the invasions of Grenada and Panama in 1983 and 1989 respectively, accepted the surrender of Manuel Noriega and headed the chase to capture Colombian drug czar Pablo Escobar in 1992.
In 1993, he clashed with Muslim warlord Osman Atto in Somalia, chronicled in the film Black Hawk Down. Later, Jerry Boykin commanded all the Army's Green Berets, as well as the US Army’s JFK Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, NC.
In his thirty-six years in the Army, LTG Boykin also served a tour with the CIA. He participated in clandestine operations around the world and served his last four years in the Army as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence in Washington, DC.
His book, Never Surrender, chronicles many of his experiences, including the toughest battle he ever fought. Today he is an ordained minister with a passion for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging Christians to become Warriors in God's Kingdom.
